The finance curriculum engages students through problem-based casework, real-world business activities, and internships in the financial community. Finance students leave Walton College prepared to successfully meet the rigors and challenges of a wide variety of career opportunities.
Students who elect to major in finance can choose from one of five concentrations: banking; financial management/investment; insurance; real estate, and personal financial management. This choice should reflect the student's primary career focus and electives should be used to complement the coursework in the chosen concentration. Finance majors are strongly encouraged to consult with an academic advisor in the undergraduate programs office in developing their curriculum.
As an academic discipline, finance is all about the decisions that individuals, organizations and governments make when it comes to securing and managing money. Finance students learn about the constantly changing dynamics of organizational decisions, managing risks, and evaluating the hard-to-see benefits and costs that come with uncertainties.
The Eight-Semester Degree Completion Program makes it possible to obtain the finance
bachelor's degree in four academic years.
